How it works

1. Export your data

Pull CSV exports of your units, residents, leases, and payment history from your current platform - checklists below for AppFolio, MagicDoor, and TurboTenant.

2. AI maps the columns

Our importer reads your CSV headers and sample rows and proposes a mapping onto Forge's fields automatically - no manual column-by-column setup.

3. You confirm, then it imports

You review and correct the proposed mapping before a single row is created. Nothing goes live in Forge until you sign off on it.

About that "week"

For a portfolio of a few hundred units with clean exports, migration typically takes about a week end to end. That is our own estimate for a typical case, not a guarantee - data quality and portfolio complexity can extend it, and we will give you a real estimate after seeing your first export, not before.

General guidance - menu names and export locations change between vendor releases, so confirm the exact path with your current platform's support if something below doesn't match what you see.

  • Property & unit list (address, unit numbers, bed/bath, square footage)
  • Resident roster with current lease terms and contact info
  • Active lease dates, rent amounts, and deposit balances
  • Rent-ledger / transaction history (as far back as you want it in Forge)
  • Owner list with entity/contact info and management-fee terms

From MagicDoor

  • Property & unit export (their reporting/export menu)
  • Tenant/lease export, including current balances
  • Payment/transaction history export
  • Vendor list, if you want vendor payment history to carry over
  • Any signed lease documents you want archived in Forge

From TurboTenant

  • Rental/unit list
  • Tenant applications and active lease info
  • Payment history (Free plan tenants pay by ACH/card - export the transaction log)
  • REI Hub export, if you were using it, for prior bookkeeping history
  • Signed lease PDFs
