How it works

  1. 1. Export your data

    Pull CSV exports of your owners, properties, units, residents, and leases from your current platform - checklists below for AppFolio, MagicDoor, and TurboTenant.

  2. 2. AI maps the columns

    Our importer reads your CSV headers and sample rows and proposes a mapping onto Forge's fields automatically - no manual column-by-column setup.

  3. 3. You confirm, then it imports

    You review and correct the proposed mapping before a single row is created. Nothing goes live in Forge until you sign off on it.

About that "week"

For a portfolio of a few hundred units with clean exports, migration typically takes about a week end to end. That is our own estimate for a typical case, not a guarantee - data quality and portfolio complexity can extend it, and we will give you a real estimate after seeing your first export, not before.

  • Property & unit list (address, unit numbers, bed/bath, square footage)
  • Resident roster with current lease terms and contact info
  • Active lease dates, rent amounts, and deposit balances
  • Current balance owed per resident (brought over as an opening balance)
  • Owner list with entity/contact info and management-fee terms

From MagicDoor

  • Property & unit export (their reporting/export menu)
  • Tenant/lease export, including current balances

From TurboTenant

  • Rental/unit list
  • Tenant applications and active lease info
  • Current balance owed per tenant (brought over as an opening balance)

From Rentec Direct

  • Owners report (name, company/LLC, email, mailing address, management fee %)
  • Properties report (address, unit designator, city, state, ZIP, owner)
  • Rent roll report (tenant, unit, move-in, lease end, rent, deposit, current balance)
  • Save each report as CSV, not Excel - in Excel: File > Save As > CSV UTF-8

How much does migration cost?
Nothing. White-glove migration is free with every Forge trial - our AI-assisted CSV importer plus a human review of the mapping before anything is imported, at no extra charge.
How long does migration take?
Typically about a week for a portfolio of a few hundred units, once we have your exports. Complexity (data quality, number of source systems, lease documents) can extend that - we will tell you a real estimate after looking at your first export, not before.
Will my data be double-checked before it goes live?
Yes. The importer's AI maps your CSV columns onto Forge's fields and shows you the mapping - you confirm or correct it before a single row is created. Nothing imports silently.
What if my property management software isn't AppFolio, MagicDoor, or TurboTenant?
The same CSV importer works from any export that has your owners, properties, units, residents, and leases in it - these three just have the most common checklists below. Send us a sample export and we'll tell you exactly what to prepare.
Does my transaction history come across?
Not as a ledger. The importer brings over owners, properties/units, and the rent roll, and each resident carries a single opening balance for what they owe today. Prior transactions, vendor payment history, and document archives stay in your old system - keep your exports for your own records.
